From Associated Press - Former Minneapolis Officer Derek Chauvin was convicted on Tuesday for the murder and manslaughter in the death of George Floyd. With the most serious charge carrying up to 40 years in prison, Chauvin's sentencing will be in two months. His bail has been revoked.
After the ruling by a jury of six white jurors and six black or multiracial jurors, a crowd at the intersection where Floyd was pinned down chanted, "One down, three to go," a reference to the three other fired Minneapolis officers facing trial in August on charges of aiding and abetting murder in George Floyd's death.
